Can we all be wrong? Four bloggers have written about the sad case of the Victoria Advocate in the last 24 hours. What makes it so pathetic is that it doesn't have to be this way. But, you see, the Advocate set a precedent when it started going out on limbs that it probably should have avoided. This is Victoria--we're not Houston! We can't have huge controversial, really controversial issues being so whole heartedly endorsed by the local editorial board. It makes for unhappy folks, and unhappy folks don't buy papers they don't agree with. Folks are getting the news other places--hell, Ash Wade on local radio keeps us up to speed better than any other local news source! The Advocate has done it to themselves. There will be a point where the McHaneys and the Roberts will decide they have bled enough money on this mess. As someone pointed out on another blog, there are too many family members feeding at the VA trough and they will try to ride this sucker on down. Those folks who have been fired from the Advocate should probably thank them for it. They really were done a favor. We'll adjust. We always do. Enjoyed the cartoon, Sugar!
