Touch of Grey will, well, touch upon the rainbow that is life. Good music, good times, and good friends combine to make all the splendid colors. Touch of Grey will celebrate this beautiful rainbow.

C'mon, Alex!!

Show us what you're made of!!

Huff and puff and blow us away! I dare you to have half the power of these songs, though! Talk about getting blown away, if you have never seen Neil Young in concert, particularly with Crazy Horse, you have no idea what REAL power is. He is, hands down, one of the single most awesome guitarists EVER. I have seen him play his guitar so hard, strings break. And then what did he do? HE KEPT PLAYING! Simply one-of kind. Witness for yourself as he gives his all on my FAVORITE Neil Young song:

And, of course, you could never possess the incredible talent of the Beatles, either!

Are ya gonna put some truth into Stevie Ray Vaughn's "Texas Flood"? Are you gonna wash us away, Alex? No? I didn't think so. No flood could compare to this one by SRV. The truth is already there in every sweet note of his guitar. You wouldn't understand.

And are you going to "Reign O'er Me"? I don't think you will. You see, The Who is most regal here. You, not so much. I'll let love reign o'er me anyday.

So go ahead and stir up those waters. I say, "Let It Rain", as long as I can listen to a little Eric Clapton at the same time:

And, maybe, a little hangover here from my last WAR blog.....STOP THE WAR.....but, "Who'll Stop the Rain"?

And, Alex, you will never be able to win my heart with your mighty winds. For the sweetest breath I've ever heard belongs to Robert Plant, and he knows how to speak to a woman. So go ahead and do your best, for "upon us all, a little rain must fall". But I have a feeling you won't stick around as long as Led Zeppelin. After all, they have always been the "sunlight in my growing":

And after you've given us all you've got, and you're diminishing, diminishing, diminishing, all we'll be left with is remnants of your memory. Your brother Ike tried to destroy this state's spirit. Alicia, Claudette, Rita.....they certainly tried to take all that is ours. But they couldn't. Neither will you. Even if it's raining in Texas (or Georgia), and it feels like it's raining all over the world, we will get through it. We will hear beautiful songs like this one by Brook Benton, and remember when you tried your best. But your best will never be any match for Texas.

So come on, Alex. We're not scared. We're Texans.

The Rainbow After the Storm

Hurricane Ike exacted a devastating toll on my beloved city of Galveston.

But, true to its can-do, never-die nature, Galveston is turning a massive misfortune into a blessing and a new tradition.

Where once stately oaks and sycamores stood, there is now little more than stumps, a sign of flora ravaged by salt water and left to die amid the ruins.
But wait. These are not just stumps. Some enterprising artists have taken to these beloved trees that once graced both homes and businesses alike, and, with chain saw in hand, been sculpting amazing homages to the spirit of the people of Galveston.

I will let the pictures do the talking.

A Truly STINKY One for Y'all....

And I'll be the first to admit it!

So with deepest apologies, here goes....

I hear on the news that there was a murder at the local fish market.

A woman killed a gentleman just for the halibut.

Turns out he was kind of hard of herring....

And on a related note, one of my favorite memories from the Dr. Demento days.....I always loved this one.....

Yep, had to do it. Y'all can hate me now or hate me later.

But just remember, when you order that pizza......

Well......

The Most Fun You'll Ever Have for 34 Calories

GUARANTEED!!

Take a little trip back in time with just one small, waistline-friendly packet of candy.

Open a packet of Pop Rocks.

Yes, that cool, exploding, fizzy, fun treat from decades past.....you'll feel like a kid again.

What are YOUR favorite old-time candies? Penny dots, root-beer barrels, Necco wafers, Jujubes....reminisce with me about sweeter times, and your most enjoyable candy moments.

Mother always loved Necco wafers and maple nut goodies; grandmother loves lemon drops, and dad favors Snickers and Mr. Goodbar, chocaholic that he is.

I can't watch a movie without Junior Mints. And I've always loved Spree candies. I think it was that obsession with the color silver as a youngster. Remember the paper wrapping around Sprees was silver? And probably also why I was partial to Chunky. Yep, must have been that silver wrapper.

Although the black and red wrappers of Pop Rocks has contained great fun for me today!

Now if I could just find an arcade that has Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Caterpillar.....

**SMILE**

Happiness is.....

Unexpectedly being able to break away from work early for once and having the rest of the day to yourself (and your pets and family)....

Taking a hot bubble bath in your jacuzzi tub (which I fully intend to do later)...

Visiting with himself and herself while watching a giant whale in the bay....if only in my dreams (from last night - I hold the Italian sausage responsible for this...no bacon was consumed before bed)....

Enjoying a brief, but blustery, little storm rolling in with little warning and much thunder, offering needed rainfall.....

Sweet music, joyous skits, silly cartoons, and talented artists....and always, always, ALWAYS John Travolta....all of which I have for you here.

So I hope this brightens your day...after all, I love to smile, don't you?
