The Beauty

The beauty is, I don't have to look far for inspiration. It sits, ever on display on my library shelf. It waits, patiently for me to really look, not just glance over. It speaks, in a language of smiles and tears gone by.

The beauty is the women that have molded my life.

The beauty is that even though some aren't here any longer, I know they will never really leave me. Their genes are my genes. Their dreams are my dreams. And their secrets, well, they're safe with me.

The beauty is all around me. And I need only look to my right as I sit here to see it. I wanted you to see it, too.

I'll take a wild guess here and go with the first picture is your mother who, you very much take after in looks. I also see your Dad's mother in the picture of the lady in the red dress. He looks very much like her.

What a nice collection of lovely ladies! I'm sure they are a great deal of inspiration to you. I'm also sure you are a great source of pride for them.

Thanks for the nice post Sugar!

WOW. You are a smart one, Edith Ann. Yes, you are correct on both of those. The beautiful lady with the dimples in the third picture is my mom's mom, the grandmother who lives with me now. The remaining pics are of my great-grandmother, maternal, who we always called "Nannie", the last pic is of her and my great-grandfather, who we called "Pa".

They are quite lovely, aren't they! Thanks for the sweet words.
