What's New With You?

With me, not so much lately. Other than the normal state of toiling during the daylight hours like a normal person, I haven't had much to blog about, truthfully.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I have had a few joyous moments in between the the long hours at the new job, which, by the way, is going quite well. Dad and I took a trip to Conroe to see the fam, and I saw my little cousin's T-Ball game. Well, not really so much a game at that age, just enhanced play, but the tykes sure do enjoy it, and it is fun for us adults to watch them as well. We enjoyed a smashing game of poker, of course, and the tales just grow taller on nights like that. Even got whipped at Yahtzee by my own merciless grandmother, just so I understand what the pecking order is! Good times and happiness centered around a giant pot of gumbo and an "all-purpose mother's day/birthday" cake for me, my aunt, my grandmother, etc. topped off a fine weekend. It's at times like this that I dearly miss the piney woods of Texas and the fresh smell of the air up there in the wee hours.

Just this week, I had a visitor from Houston, a former coworker whom I have always enjoyed as a wonderful friend. We took a couple days off during the week and visited the Texas Zoo, the Rose Garden, the Museum of the Coastal Bend (which I highly recommend to anyone - what a fantastic job the college did with this!), Port Lavaca, and other surrounding "Texas" sites. A native of India, he is a Texan by choice now and loves this state every bit as much as any native ever did. He was fascinated with the history contained around these parts, and his next trip down I have promised him we will go to the Fannin battleground, the Alamo, and other landmarks in South Texas, and maybe even go scoot a boot at Schroeder and Gruene halls. Oh, and I must teach him to play poker, too. We could always use another player from whom to take money.....er, I mean, to enjoy!

Speaking of poker, and this is JUST for you, Loon, as I know how you enjoy my really bad sense of humor.....what is the difference between a poker player and a cheese pizza?

A cheese pizza can feed a family of four.

Bada-BOOM!

Agree about the museum of the Coastal Bend, a lovely museum full of local history.
