CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW???

The monumental task of being middle management is exhilarating, challenging, frustrating, and, at times, exasperating.

This week has held all these roller-coaster emotions for me, sometimes all at once. One thing I have always known is that communication is key to getting anything done. Sounds simple, yes. And I know that we are all aware of that on some level. But how many really practice effective communication? And how many just think they do? So many things can be accomplished if people would listen instead of just hearing.

So, in that spirit, I have some songs that have been going through my head, embodying the good, the bad, and the ugly of my week.

Give them a, ahem, listen, won't you?

Nothing from the band "Talking Heads"?

I love your selections, so eclectic, sort of like you and me, Pal?

Don't forget that song from Rhinestone Cowboy, think it was Glen Campbell, "Everybody's talking at me, can't hear a word they're saying...." Don't remember the title.

Speaking of Glen Campbell, "Witcha Lineman" relates to talking....okay, I am out of here before you tell me, "Talk to the Hankd."

Wow, Ferret, you've got your wires a bit crossed. The song is "Everybody's Talkin" from the movie "Midnight Cowboy". The artist was Harry Nilsson.

But I love that song, and, yes, that would have fit.

And even "Rhinestone Cowboy" would have fit, too....follow me here....the blog is about communication, and some of the "Rhinestone" lyrics say, "getting cards and letters from people I don't even know, and offers coming over the phone."

And, of course, "Wichita Lineman" could have fit..."I hear you singing in the wire, I can hear you through the whine".

Isn't it wonderful how great ideas just sort of leapfrog off each other?

Love me some Talking Heads, too....too many possibilities!

Thanx for the suggestions!

Okay, so I got my cowboys mixed up...I did see both movies and they were SO not alike. I did mean the one with Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voigt.

So, I guess that I will just walk the talk or talk the walk....

Smiles, Ferret

Wow! I promise I'll watch the rest of it after I walk out into the South Carolina fresh air and sunshine and steady myself from the Pink Ployd performance. We saw them together once and never knew it at the time, didn't we? Let's not let that happen again if we get another chance, okay? Your music selections are always so killer. You should have been a VJ gal.....
Sugar Magnolia, JJ Jackson, Nina Blackwood, and Martha Quinn........

Thank you, Pilot! We are indeed kindred music spirits.

VJ....yeah....
**dreams**

Yeah, that would have been cool. I even had the big hair to fill the TV screen!

That Pink Floyd IS amazing, isn't it??? Just awesome.

We have many more concerts in our future, of that I am sure. Take care out there in the Carolinas, Pilot, and keep in touch.
